Hey, thanks for this! I ran into a little error that I thought I’d share the solution to…

If you get this error:

Error: Target org.macports.activate returned: Image error: Another version of this port (icu @3.8.1_0) is already active.

…then just “sudo port uninstall icu @3.8.1_0″ or whatever version it was, then rerun the first command :)

Great post. The standard mac ports install (sudo port install couchdb +server) was refusing to start with launchctl, so your guide to get up and running from source was a huge help.

thanks for the informative post- there’s a few typos in your code samples:

1) “sudu” should be “sudo”
2) there’s html “strong” tags in the chown code
